New Photo Exhibit Shows Starkness of Local Homelessness

Posted: Aug. 20, 2018 5:15 pm Updated: Aug. 20, 2018 5:28 pm QUINCY — A photojournalism project focusing on Quincy families who are homeless or living in poverty was unveiled to the public Saturday night.The walls inside Washington Theater’s cavernous auditorium were papered with more than 100 13-by-19-inch black-and-white photographs depicting joyful, sad and frightful moments in the lives of 25 struggling families.

The exhibition, which drew a large crowd of viewers on its opening night, offered a sampling of the work by photographer Steve Bohnstedt for the Quincy Illinois Poverty Project, which seeks to raise awareness about homelessness and poverty in Quincy.
