Amazing Opportunity Speaking with QND High School Students

Invited by Quincy Notre Dame High School teacher, Mike Young to speak to three classrooms of students there today, I was grateful to be there. It was a great opportunity to spread the message about poverty and homelessness issues and solutions here in Quincy, Illinois. The students will each study one of the 25 stories from the project, and have class discussions. Perhaps the discussions will generate actionable ideas? No matter the outcome, I’m thankful to be speaking to young people about these issues.

February 2017: Clarence enjoys a Valentine’s Day meal at the Horizons Soup Kitchen. “I’d like a steak at the Golden Corral, but I can’t eat steak. I lost my false teeth two years ago — my dog found them in a chair and chewed them up. Although Clarence and Vickie rely on the Monday through Friday meals at Horizons, Clarence likes to take Vickie on a date out to eat, usually at McDonald’s on the first of the month after getting his monthly retirement check.
